WAITING…

30 10 2008

I was doing my first Friday evening jog at the park, a stone throw away from my house. There were many people there, mostly strangers to me. I was doing my running till a young guy caught my attention. He was sitting on a park bench, under the tree. He was dressed smartly as though he was going to attend a formal function. Beside him, was a bouquet of roses, an umbrella and a box a gift, which I guessed is a chocolate. He has a plain look, not too handsome but enough to attract girls. ‘Must be waiting for his girlfriend,’ I thought.

Since busybody is not so much of my nature, I carried on with my jog.

One round about the park took about half an hour. I did about three round that day. And, each time of my round, I saw the guy sitting at the same place, same position as I saw him earlier as though he did not moved a muscle. He was looking a a place far away, ignorance of his surrounding. I ended my jog about 7pm, and he was still there.

The next evening, I went to the park again. This time, I was half expecting to see if the young guy is still there. Surprisingly, he was! I dutifully went on with my initial plan: to jog.

Feeling fatigue, I stopped for a rest near the guy. Almost 15 feet away behind him, I was panting while looking at him. Odd, is that he was looking at a house far ahead. I kept on looking at him. Smart attire, different suit from yesterday.

“Usually people just mind their own business,” a girl’s voice came from behind.

Startled, I look back and saw an attractive young lady behind me. I blushed instantly, not because of her presence but of what she said that made me feel bad.

“Sorry, I didn’t..,”

“Didn’t know I was here?,”she continued.

“Yeah..,”I replied. She was quite rude to act such way to me, a stranger. Maybe the guy is her friend and she is defending him.

“Erm… U know him?,” I asked, pointing at the guy.

“Yes.”

Suddenly, putting my manners behind, I have the caprice to ask. “Is he always here everyday? From morning to night?”

“Well, he is here everyday but not from morning till night. He come and sit here everyday after work.”

“Is he psychopathic of something?”

“Hah! No,” She grinned.

“Then why is he always sitting there like a dummy?”

“That’s because he is waiting for someone.”

“Someone? Who?”

“His ex-girlfriend.”

“Why.. Has he done something wrong? And does the girl live in that house he is staring?”

“No, he has done nothing wrong. And yes, the girl live there.”

I was just about to ask another question when she continued.

“You must understand, this doesn’t happen to him just recently. But a long time ago, his ex broke with him. And he has been sitting there routinely everyday since then.”

“How long ago was that?” I asked.

“Four years ago.”

“What?!! So long ago.. Why did she broke up with him?”

“They met when they were in secondary school. But they girl left to study abroad. They promised to return to each other again after the girl finishes her tertiary education. He was faithfully waiting for her. However, the girl found a new guy abroad, and decided to break up with him.

“Does he know that the girl found a new guy? He doesn’t know right? That’s why he is still sitting there.”

“No.” she continued, “He does know. His ex gave him a ring to tell him she wanted to break up with him. He just said he will wait for her to come back to him. looks like he mean it literally.”

“Then? Does his ex knows that his is sitting here waiting for her?”

“Yes. She does know about him waiting for her here. But she refused to see him or care for him anymore ever since she broke up with him. At first he waited at her house gate. But the girl phoned the cop to bring him in. So, since then, he have been sitting here after work.”

Realising that this girl knows a lot about him, I began to wonder who is she. So, I asked,”Who are you? How come you know a lot about him?”

Reluctantly, she replied,”I am that girl who left him.”

1 Crucial Month to Change My Life

16 10 2008

Time’s travelling faster and faster now.. Hours, days and weeks pass-by quickly without me noticing. What’s left behind, well they are my studies. As exam is in a month’s time (fyi, STPM).. My goodness, math, physics and chemistry, PA; 4 subjects that valuate my 2 years’ effort. Its very different altogether from SPM or PMR. And, when reaching U, it will be different again.

This 1 month, from tomorow, is so important to catch things up. Topics untouched to be revised. Unprepared status to prepared status. I’m sure lots of STPM candidate out there agree with me. Time to be spent wisely and used fully.

2 years of my life judged by 4 subjects in 2 weeks’ time.

Oh my goodness, why I’m still posting this.

Parent’s 21st Aniversary: Cake

13 10 2008

Yesterday, was my parent’s 21st anniversary. We had a simple dinner outside, trying out dishes of a new cafe we found out which tasted great by the way.

Cut to the chase, let’s go to one of my favourite food, the cake. This time, it’s German Cheese from Taka Cake House (with 15% discount). I do not know what’s the difference between cheeses especially when these cheeses came from which country, like the case of German Cheese.

Anyway, below are the cake of the day:

Well, it tasted nice (all cakes taste nice) but from what I heard, cheese cake from Secret Recipe is the nicest in town, which I’ve yet to try. Maybe someday.

My Cousin’s 21st Birthday

12 10 2008

Today (11th of 10) was my cousin’s (Ah Kwang) 21st birthday bash. As 21st birthday is celebrated hugely in chinese custom to a person to adulthood.

Hence, today more or less circle around the party.

First, my mum wanted to use my camera for the party which I lend to my friend, Patrick. So, I asked it back from him and requested him to send it over to me. (Thanks Patrick). Then he brought me to Big Apple Donut, which is located in tHe Spring, Kuching. He intended to make a review of Apple Donut in his blog. My second Big Apple, I chosen to eat the less sweet ones as I am health-conscious (ok, laugh laugh)

Below are few snaps, courtesy of Patrick.

Its nice that they show their works for people to see. Its seldom found in food outlets in Kuching. It shows hygiene and other food outlet should practise this too.

I like this. Its called ‘The Alien’. Its not too sweet and it has creamy chocolate filling.

Then, I headed back home, with my camera.

Below, are the foods that my mum, and aunts, and the Birthday Boy cooked. Believe or not, the pictures below are not food ordered from Lok Thian or any, but home-cooked.

My cousin and his girlfriend (who is the first time saw)

At the end, it ends well. My cousin was very outspoken and managed to get almost everyone to take picture with him. I’m sure its a memorable birthday for him.

Ya, I ate a lot. Too much actually, till its hard for me to sleep. Thats why I am doing this post. Haha.

Alright, time to pen off and go to Slumberland.

Prefects 2007/08

10 10 2008

For one year, I worked as a Form 6 prefects. Not counting my Form 4 & 5. Sometimes its nice being prefects, like less hair and nail checks. Haha, go class later for subjects I hate, not always alright.

But, of course, I don,t miss serving as prefect. It was labour 24/7. Like going BBQ, we have to go home early, and not allowed to make noise.

Still, serving as prefect is a nice memory to cherish. Those friends and people we meet.

To Western Digital!

10 10 2008

Say WD!

Say WD!

Yesterday was our field trip to Western Digital. My first field trip in these 2 years; it was enjoyable aand cool. Only a handful went as it was a month away from exam. However, what’s stopping us to have fun. We actually thought we are going to CD manufacturing factory but it turn out to be a media manufacturing factory, which is cooler.

Western Digital (WD), located in the heart of Sama Jaya, Kuching is doing a part of the manufacuring job of a media. Media is actually the disc spinning in the computer hard disc. I never heard of WD before, thats because they don’t do finished up products like camera and etc. Hey, its here that is saw people working in small cubical offices for the first time!

We get to see a few parts of the making processes. And to find high technologies here in Sarawak is actually cool. Min Huang was super outspoken and asked a lot of questions. Haha. Too bad they are not giving away surveniors, as a lot of us anticipated.

At the end of the day, its not the souveniors that matters. But, the ‘out-door knowledge’ that is most meaningful.
